Depth Training: Sessions and Packages

At Freedive Flow on Gili Air we offer training opportunities for certified freedivers of all levels. Around Gili Air we have no depth limit! From single sessions (with or without coach) to month-long training camps – contact us for your personalized offer!

Daily training oportunity

Every morning our freedive boat brings the group of freedivers to the nearest spot with the required depth. Duration per session is 90 min in-water. If conditions allow it, the boat may swing by a reef, wall or wreck for some fun-freediving on the way back.

Please get in touch with any further questions and to book your session.

Gear-Rent is included in the published price. However, this is beginner-student gear and we have only limited performance gear available. You are welcome to bring your own gear – the water is a balmy 28-30C, all year round.

Training Session (max. 55m)

In a “training session” a freedive instructor is present and sets up the freedive equipment for you. There is no coaching or teaching included in this package. You will be supervised by the freediving instructor in charge of the session. If there are two or more certified freedivers you can get your own setup including float, line and bottom weight. The rule is: If you dive you also buddy!

Deep Training Session (55m – 100m)

A deep training session includes a setup of two safety divers, a fast-retrieval pulley system and deco-nitrox. Next to your freedive certification, you need to hold a scuba or even better EAN-certification to use the deco-nitrox.

Maximum depth is -100m

Coached Session

In a coached session, the instructor will tailor the open water session to your needs: Prep-talk, training design, immediate feedback during the session and debriefing after the session. Your session will also be taped on video and your instructor will analyze one of your dives in detail after the session.

You do not need to buddy in a coached session and can focus fully on your own dives.

We strongly recommend your first session with Freedive Flow should be a coached session – your instructor will bring you up to speed with our “house rules” and the latest safety procedures in freediving.

The fee for a coached session depends on the level you would like to work. This refers both to the skills and the maximum depth involved in the session.

Beginner level: basic skills – max. -20m

Advanced level: freefall, Frenzel-EQ, no-fins, etc. – max -30m

Master level: mouth fill – EQ, deep Frenzel (reverse packing), monofin, etc. – max. -55m

Deep Week

Our signature deep training camp is a 1-week combination of

  • 1 coached session
  • 4 individual training sessions

During an initial “coached session” you will be evaluated by one of our senior freedive instructors (in-water and by video-analyzis) – this is your starting point for your week-long program:

  • 1st Evaluation Session
  • Training
  • Training
  • Break (dry day)
  • Training
  • Training
  • ..next week starts

You can of course create your own schedule on which mornings you would like to train. The boat is out for diving every morning, you enter the water at about 9:30am and the session ends roughly at 11:00am.

Training Prerequisites

We welcome guests from all agencies to join us for open water training!

For students who have completed courses through other schools or agencies, please consider the word from our instructors on duty as if from God while diving with Freedive Flow. We strongly recommend your first session with Freedive Flow should be a coached session – your instructor will bring you up to speed with our “house rules” and the latest safety procedures in freediving.

We do not welcome ‘breathe up’-patterns prior to diving and under no circumstances permit any form of hyperventilation or over-weighting. A lanyards is mandatory for dives deeper than -20m or deeper than surface visibility, whichever is more conservative.

Please get in touch for your further questions and to book your session and visit the pricing page to check the current rates.
