Pranayama Workshop
Version in Deutsch folgt in Kürze
The Pranayama Workshop covers the basics of Pranayama. We talk about the science behind the practice and explain its impact on us on a biological and psychological level. This knowledge and the exercises that go with it are vital for a healthy yoga practice as well as for our everyday lives.
Freedivers can lower their heart rate almost at will, hold their breath for more than 11 minutes and dive deeper than 100 meters. These performances are not out of this world but a great display of the power techniques deeply rooted in pranayama. The breath is your most important tool of self-regulation. You can breathe yourself into sleep, into ecstasy or into full focus. Your breath can leave you excited and hungry, or relaxed and satisfied. How exactly does this work? Which muscles should be used and which ones not? These workshops take you deep into the old wisdom of pranayama and with the use of modern science takes you back to your daily practice.
This workshop is recommended for Yogis as for Freedivers alike, and all of you who want to make your breath your best friend.

About Oli Christen
Oli Christen integrates elements of Yoga, Freediving and Psychology into a comprehensive approach to Pranayama. After attaining several degrees in Psychology at University of Berne/Switzerland he started his freedive education with AIDA in 2008 and is now a Freedive Instructor Trainer based in Gili Air. In 2013 he also attained a RYT200 yoga teacher certification.
As the author of the AIDA Freedive Manuals and a member of the PADI Freediver Advisory Group, Oli helps to define and develop the worldwide standards of freedive education. In his opinion, breathing effectively is a skill that can be learned just like riding a pushbike – and this skill will go a long way in yoga and freediving as much as in your daily life.
